Hanuman-   A son of god wind (Air) and mother Anjani-  his chin was hurt by Indra- An assisstant of  Sugriva- head of all monkeys- disguised as Brahaman went to Rama and Lakshmana  to find out their identity- helped Rama- Crossed over the ocean by flying  and  assumed a very minute form as a gnat and entered  Lanka at night-  killed Akshaykumar, Sinhika, Devantak and Trishira son of Ravana- gave a ring to Sita as a representative  of Rama-  Set Lanka on fire with his burning  tail- when Lakshmana  became unconscious brought Sanjivni herb along with the whole mountain- remained a devotee and helper of  Rama for the rest of his life.

 Other names:- Anjanisut,  Kapivar, Kapishwar, Mahabali, Mahavir, Marutsut, Maruti, 

 Pavankumar, Pavannandan, Pananputra, Pavansut, Pavantanya,Vanarshiromane, Vanaryuthpati, Vayunandan.

Hell -The abode of Yama.

Himvan  - Husband of Maina- father of Parvati (Uma).

Harishchander- A king who donated his kingdom in dream.

Himachalsuta- Parvati.

Hirayanksh - Killed by Incarnation of Boar.

Hiranyakaspu-      A powerful demon who tormented his son  Prahlad, a great devotee- and was slained  by  Lord Nrsimha  half- man-half-lion  incarnation of the supreme Lord.

Hulsi -  Mother of Goswamy Tulsidas.

Incarnations  - Ten-Fish, Turtle, Boar, Nrisimh-half-lion and half –man , Vaman, Parshuram, Rama, Krishan, Buddha and Kalki.

Indra - The king of the demigods- His abode is Amravati -   Presiding diety of rain-Elder brother of Vishnu - disguised as Gautam Rishi  went to his hut to  meet his wife- And Had relations- Known as  Shtyratu- married Shachi Known as Shachipati also- Son Jayant- his enemy Meghnad -killed Vritrasur.

                   

Inderjeet-  Son of Ravana, Meghnad- killed by Lakshman.

J

Jai- and Vijay (brothers )- Gatekeeper of Shrihari - cursed by   Sankadi- reborn as Hirnaykashpu and Hirnayakash and  Killed by incarnation of Boar and Nrisimh respectively - reborn as Ravana  and Kumbhkaran.

Jambumali -  A demon son of  Prahast-son of Ravana.

Jambvan-  Son of Brahma- King of Bears,.

Janak- King of Mithila- Janakpur.

Jamadagni - Father of  Parshuram-slain by the followers of King  Sahasrabahu in order to avenge.

Janakpur -  A place in Mithila.

Jankivallabh - Husband of Janki-Rama.

Japa - Muttering of prayers.

Jatayu- A Vulture- brother of  Sampati.

Java - was known as Yavdweep.

Jayant- Son of Indra who disguised as a crow and tried to cheat  Rama- but Rama let him go with the loss of one eye .  

Jiva -  The individual soul.
